Gettin' Busy

I know office romances are a fact of life back in the civilian world, but they forbidden in most cases here in the Army. Cheating on your spouse or sleeping with someone who is cheating on their spouse is also illegal in the armed services and you can go to jail over it. Even hanging out with someone who is not near you in rank can get you in trouble, no sex needed. So why do people still do it? who knows. Maybe the illegality is the exciting part. Playing with fire will usually get you burned, though.
We have a few office romances going around here and the chain of command has only finally started to look at them seven months into the deployment. The damage has been done, though. Questions about favoritism, unqualified promotions, failed PT tests swirl about the battalion and destroy morale. I can't believe that people actually think that they don't need to follow the rules; They think can join the army and drive on behaving like they did when they were civilians. Fools.
